A robust twiner with distinctive large, pale green, fleshy leaves, and a large broad seed pod. Locally common on ridges all over Island. Also found in eastern Australia; the genus distributed tropical and subtropical Old World. Fruit a large, broad, brown follicle 7cm long, splitting into 2 boat‑shaped halves exposing numerous seeds each with a coma of long silky hairs.
