SHORT-NECKED GOOSE BARNACLE ( Lepas anserifera )

The short-necked goose barnacle Lepas anserifera attached to floating objects such as logs and bottles with a stalk just a few cm long. They feed by extending their many pairs of fine legs, constantly beating the water and numerous small hairs on the legs intermesh to form a net, gathering fine particles of debris and small microscopic animals for food.
