Discovery Day

Discovery Day is the annual celebration of the day in 1788 that Lord Howe Island was discovered. The museum mounts a temporary display commemorating aspects of the island’s discovery or early history; the school children create project work and a games night is held in the sports oval, with races, and speciality events such as palm tree climbing and slow bicycle race.
