STRAW-NECKED IBIS (Threskiornis spinicollis)
Biodiversity > Birds > Rare visitors and vagrants

Vagrant. Two sets of records. One seen by R.E. Baxter for a few days in February 1952 (McKean & Hindwood 1965). One seen by Doug Gibson in January 1971 (K.A. Hindwood papers, ML). This bird was evidently present for some time. It was seen in February, April and July 1971, throughout 1972, until at least June 1973 (Peter Fullagar, John McKean and Gerry Van Tets in Rogers 1972; Alan Morris, NSWBA data; Rogers 1973, 1974).
