Lucienne Rickard's artwork

Artwork installed

In May we hung an artwork piece in our Environmental Gallery. It was donated by Hobart-based Detached Organisation.

Artist Lucienne Rickard was commissioned to visit the island during the annual seabird/plastic research program and follow the researchers through the period. This is Lucienne’s art piece, measuring  170 x  170 cm. A still photograph doesn’t do justice to the work – as you move around it, the highlights on each feather reflect the light and shine.

Lucienne, who lives in Hobart, is the daughter of our museum treasurer Kevin and Denise Rickard. Lucienne also performed a sixteen-month project at TMAG in Hobart, entitled Extinction Studies. It was featured recently on the ABC programme [the mix]: Extinction Studies
