Fungus experts visit the island

A group of fungus experts visited Lord Howe Island in March, as part of an on-going research project.

in March a group of fungus experts visited the island as part of a research project being undertaken with the Lord Howe Island Museum to study the Island’s fungi.

Unfortunately, due to the restrictions on walking tracks because of the outbreak of Myrtle Rust, the team was not able to progress far into the forest. However, they did explore the settlement area and were impressed by what they saw.

They also put names on the collection of fungi photographs collected over forty years by the Museum Curator.

Another fungus trip is planned for April 2024.
